Patta Dance 2024 Lookbook

Available in a limited run, the Patta Dance 2024 T-Shirt is a London exclusive—by the London community, for the London community. This special piece will be available from August 20th, only at our Patta London chapter and on patta.co

The Notting Hill Carnival is a vibrant and iconic celebration that has evolved significantly since its beginnings in the mid-20th century. Originally born out of the social and racial struggles faced by Caribbean immigrants in London's Notting Hill area, the first "Caribbean Carnival" in 1959 was a bold statement of unity, cultural pride, and resistance against negative stereotypes.

Today, the Notting Hill Carnival has transformed into a dynamic festival that celebrates the rich and diverse cultures of the Caribbean and African diaspora. It’s a powerful convergence of music, dance, food, and art, bringing together people from all walks of life to revel in unity and joy.

This year, we're proud to present a special creation from our community: the Patta Dance 2024 T-Shirt, designed by Josh Scurville. Born and raised in West London, Josh masterfully blends illustration, animation, and printing, crafting work that pulses with life. His signature style, marked by a dynamic colour palette and a talent for infusing movement into his designs, captures the essence of the Notting Hill Carnival.

Josh's artistic journey is one of constant exploration and experimentation, drawing inspiration from music genres like hip-hop, funk, and jazz, which deeply influence his creative process. His latest artwork, featured on the Patta Dance 2024 T-Shirt, depicts lively dancing figures in a captivating burst of colours that echo the vibrancy of the celebration.
